Questions
Does the calculator send my amounts anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is submitted or stored. The page is a static form with local arithmetic.
Which rate should I choose?
Use the standard rate unless an authority source says otherwise for the exact supply. Reduced tiers apply to listed goods and services, not to every item in a category.
How is reverse VAT calculated?
To remove VAT, the gross amount is divided by one plus the rate. For example, 20% VAT is removed with a divisor of 1.2, not by subtracting 20% from the gross amount.
Orientation only. The calculation is exact for the rate you select; the selection itself is orientation. The applicable rate can depend on the supply and the customer.
VAT.tools saves source-linked evidence for each check, with an API, MCP server and bulk workflows for repeat work.
